In the spring of 2019, Ron composed an arrangement of Psalm 27 for his mother's funeral which took place in May. Shortly thereafter, the pandemic closures happened and he decided to compose arrangements of the other nine psalms that are used at Catholic funerals.   At the same time he composed three intermezzos reflecting his insights and feelings of some of the significant events that took place during the period of 2020-2022.
